Performance teaching space

The A09 Footbridge Theatre underwent a significant refurbishment to create a dedicated performance teaching space for the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.

This $16 million project included revitalising the theatre stage and support areas to meet performance teaching requirements.

The refurbishment focused on infrastructure upgrades to bring the building in line with modern compliance standards, including BCA, DDA, and fire safety.

Key elements included the reinstatement of the orchestra pit, catwalk, fly tower, and bio box, alongside upgrades to dressing rooms, storerooms, and a loading dock. Early works included demolition and roofing replacement to facilitate the main construction phase.

The project aligned with the university's goal of enhancing teaching spaces.
